I keep getting a pop up on Internet Explorer Security that says, "A website wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program will open outside of Protected mode. Internet Explorer's Protected mode helps protect your computer. If you do not trust this website, do not open this program. Name: ssvagent.exe Publisher; Oracle America, Inc." I've googled the name and I've gotten mixed information. Some people say it has to do with the Sun Java update, whereas others say that it's a virus masked as an antivirus. I'm trying to run and MBAM scan to see if anything pops up. Nothing so far. I'm running Windows 7

This will not be much help but at least you will know others are having the same problem. I am getting the same pop-up as you and have found nothing wrong with any of the scans I have run. (virus, root kit, malware, etc. I have uninstalled the current Java application and reinstalled it with the same results. I am at my wits end on this matter and have just gotten used to clicking on the pop-up which is, of course, no solution at all. Good luck and please pass on any positive solutions with which you are able to find.

Hello, ssvagent.exe is the updater for JavaJRE from Oracle America.
Run this tool as it may give us why you are getting the pop up.

MiniToolBox
Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List Installed Programs

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run. Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.
