Hi there,
I am currently repairing a laptop for a client, a DELL Inspiron 15R N5010. I am not quite sure what happened to the laptop but somehow the Motherboard and the DC Jack Board became dead - Both boards would not receive any power. The laptop would not power on or charge the battery.
I found a motherboard on eBay and it arrived yesterday but unfortunately it is an Intel version of the Motherboard whereas the original Motherboard for this laptop is the AMD version, I forgot to check the part numbers.
I now have a problem that I have a fully functional Intel Motherboard but no processor. I was thinking of returning the Intel Motherboard and purchasing a replacement AMD one (part number HNR2M) but I cannot seem to find one at a reasonable price, I paid £129 for the Intel one. I was thinking that it would be more cost effective to purchase an Intel processor which will be compatible with this Intel mobo but I am not that great when it comes to finding compatible processors.
Does anyone here know if even doing this will work and if so, can you recommend me a processor (fairly cheap) which will be compatible with this Intel mobo? The Intel mobo's part number is 52F31 and on the processor socket it says PGA-989 and that is all I know. I found this processor http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Pentium-Dual-Core-P6100-2-0GHz-Laptop-CPU-SLBUR-/140798268822?pt=UK_Motherboards_CPUs&hash=item20c83b1596#ht_1854wt_1271 but I am not sure if it would be compatible.
Thanks in advance!
