windows update

Hello,

After formatting C Drive and installing Win XP Home SP2, neither Microsoft nor Windows Update works. I get a message "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page" Error codes 0x8024400A and 0x80240036.
I tried Microsoft related articles, checked Google and the 1st 10 pages of Bleeping comp.with no success to bring back the win.updates.
Dear Moderators and fellowmembers, could you pls HELP!

upgrade to IE 8

http://download.microsoft.com/download/C/C/0/CC0BD555-33DD-411E-936B-73AC6F95AE11/IE8-WindowsXP-x86-ENU.exe

Download

Windows update agent

Save the download to your C drive

Click Start, and then click Run.

Type C:\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce and then click OK,install WU agent

Restart the PC and try to update
