Finally, here is the problem I am having with the laptop. I just noticed this yesterday. I saw that the Windows Security Center was turned off. So, I went to turn it on & it won't. The message read, "The Windows Security Center service can't be started". I have absolutely no idea what to do now. Once again, I need your help.

First :
Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark All the boxes:

Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). Do not edit the text, just post as it appears -
Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

Next
Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
•Make sure the following options are checked:
  • Internet Services
  • Windows Firewall
  • System Restore
  • Security Center
  • Windows Update
  • Windows Defender
•Press "Scan".
•It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
•Please copy and paste the log to your reply.

MFC1982 A scan with ESET is what i would suggest,

please go here http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

On the left of the page, click on the blue button labeled

Run Eset Online Scanner

run a scan, checkmark all appropriate boxes, including 'check archives,

click on advanced settings and checkmark ''scan for pottentialy unsafe apps'

disable your antivirus just before you run Start

and re-enable it afterwards. The scanner will give you the option to delete anything it finds at the end.

İf after cleaning of your hard disk, and rebooting problem is not solved,

a malwarebytes scan,would be advisable.

Aside from the Windows Security Center effect...are there any other system anomalies?

Inability to update via Windows Update...trouble browsing...and so on?

Louis, on the Windows Update for Windows 7, the updates won't install. The error number is 80246008. When I was having the Windows Update problem on my desktop computer that has XP, Narenxp sent me a link for Windows Update Agent & it worked. I don't know if it works on Windows 7 though.

.
Windows Update error 80246008 - Microsoft Windows

Please read this Microsoft solution offered for this error number -

You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps.

If you receive Windows Update error 80246008 while downloading updates, you might need to change the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) or Windows Event Log service settings, and then restart each service.

Louis, on the Windows Update for Windows 7, the updates won't install. The error number is 80246008.

Most of the times this error code corresponds to missing windows update and BITS keys.Follow noknojon advice and post the logs
