Dell XPS L501X

Wireless connection

Public router, unable to get access to it to get model

Approx. 20-30 feet from router

My problem is with the network at the hotel I have to stay at regularly. I can connect to the wireless, but every few minutes I lose my connection to the internet, and when I check the server it says I'm connected to 'unidentified server' with no internet. This only seems to last for a few seconds, but it's enough to cause disruptions with any chat programs. As I have to regularly do work over IRC, this is causing quite a lot of problems.

Previously I had no problems with my connection. My computer runs McAfee for virus protection, and the problems seemed to start last week when I renewed my subscription after a few-month lapse in coverage. Disabling the firewall on McAfee does not eliminate the problem. I do know that this is a problem only with this computer and not the internet, because I've run another computer next to it to check, and the other computer maintained a connection with no problem.

Previously I had no problems with my connection. My computer runs McAfee for virus protection, and the problems seemed to start last week when I renewed my subscription after a few-month lapse in coverage.

Disabling mcafee firewall may not help.Reinstall mcafee and see if disconnect stops.

Uninstalling McAfee seems to have fixed it. However, when I try to reinstall McAfee, it says that a file on my computer is either missing or not working correctly.
