Hi all,

I am looking to buy a new desktop PC. I will use it primarily for recording and editing audio podcasts and perhaps some video podcasts. I need a computer that has a lot of memory and runs well using programs such as audio editors (Sony Vegas, etc.), Photoshop, Skype, iTunes, etc. I will often have numerous browsers and programs running at the same time. My budget is $1,000-$1,500. I would go less expensive if that is an option. I really don't know much at all about operating systems and processors. I don't need software, I have all I need, but I will need an operating system. I really need a powerful computer which handles audio recording very well. Can anyone suggest what I need?

Where I live, we have HH Greg, Best Buy, Comp USA, etc. I am willing to order the computer online, but would rather just pick one up.

Lastly, I would rather buy something too powerful then a computer that cannot handle what I need.

Can anyone suggest a good article to read on buying a new PC?

Thanks in advance!

My first Computer had a Whopping 16K of memory @ 0.89MHz. My first hard drive held 20 Megabytes and never filled up.
My Oldest Motherboard and Hard Drive are a 80286 @ 8Mhz and a Seagate 20 Megabyte MFM drive.
