Can't get web pages to display

Hi

I have been advised to start a thread here by NASDAQ who has been helping me clean my computer of malwares etc. After the work done in the thread shown below I still can't get web pages to display anything.

I have 2 other computers connected to my network so I can download any tools required and will then transfer them via memory stick to run.

Does the pages load fine in safemode with networking?

Uninstall AVAST and Adaware

Install microsoft security essentials,does that make a difference?

Hi,

Try resetting Internet Explorer to the defaults and see if this helps.

HI

It does allow me to see web pages if I'm in Safe Mode. I removed Adaware, but cannot find Avast in the program add & remove list, so haven't been able to remove it. I downloaded microsoft security essentials but haven't installed it yet as I don't know if I need to remove Avast first.

How can I get rid of Avast if not through add/remove?

I've done what you suggested and removed both Adaware and Avast and I can now display internet pages.

Thanks for your help.

I have installed Microsoft Security Essentials now. Is that all I need as a security package? I also usually like to have SuperAnti Spyware installed and doing a scan.

Microsoft security essentials should be good.Make sure to run frequent scans with malwarebytes and super antispyware.Update your flash player and java frequently
