Windows update not working error 80073712

Originaly I had the same 3 updates continually installing everytime I logged on. They were sucessful in update history but kept comming back. I ran the system rediness tool, but it didn't help. I ran the microsoft fix it soultions for windows update normal then aggressive. Now I get this error while checking for updates. I tried to run sfc /scannow and then sfc /verifyonly but get the following error: windows resource protection could not perform the required operation. I also tried to install the latest service pack got the following error: error_sxs_componet_store_corrupt(0x80073712).
When I look at programs->installed updates nothing listed, also when I look at programs->turn on/off windows features nothing listed.

Service pack update problems are difficult to solve. Do you have your win 7 DVD?

it is Win 7 Ultimate 32bit, and the cd is at the house I will be able to get to it this weekend currently out of town.

System readiness tool has failed and sfc /scannow doesnt start.

Click on startmenu and type

cmd

Right click on it and select run as administrator and run this command

chkdsk /r

Press Y to schedule it on next reboot

Allow chkdsk to run and see if that helps

Create a new user account and see if it helps

If neither works we have to try a repair install

Ran check disk /r, retried win update (same error), sfc /scannow (same error), Readiness tool (same error).

Made a new account and had the same results.

I would suggest you to try a repair install with your Operating system DVD

When I try to do a upgrade intall I get the following:
