Upgrading my comptuer

Here is my current PC build right here:
CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 435 Rana 2.9GHz
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB
Motherboard: BIOSTAR A785G3
SSD: 64GB SATA II 3.0Gb/s 2.5" G2 Series Solid State Drive (Got it for $30 from a friend)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black WD7501AALS
GPU: XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770
PSU: COOLER MASTER Silent Pro M600
Case: COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP

I'm only going to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard, Ram, and Video card. I pretty much have my selection finalzied but I want your thougths on it? Do you think that i can improve it anymore? Get something better and cheaper?
Here are the parts that I'm looking to replace the old ones with:
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
I went with the i7 over the i5 because I do a little video editing, and I went with SB over IB because I really won't notice the difference in performance since I've been on a Athlon II X3 for a few years already.

Motherboard: ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3
I went with this motherboard because it was cheap and has what I want in an ATX case. I chose the Z68 chipset because it supports everything the other 2 chipsets supports plus it has Quick Sync while it's at a similar price point as the other chipsets.

Ram: CORSAIR XMS3 8GB
Cheapest decent ram I could find, nuff said.

H&F: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO
Heard this was a beast of a heat sink and fan so I want to get this one.

GPU: 660Ti when it comes

What do you guys think? I might buy it within the next week or two...

I think that the I7 2600 is a darn good processor. The Asrock, Sorry but No USB3? Seriously? Every external drive I buy from now on is USB3 for the speed!
The Specs say

6 x USB 2.0
and Supports ASRock XFast USB, What does that even mean?


Have you looked at the reviews and specifications on the N/E link you posted?

I don't know what you're talking about? It has two USB 3.0 ports.

The xfast feature is supposed to make USB 3.0 faster than normal. I saw a video on it a while back, I'll see if I can find it.
Here's the video that I was thinking about, but it doesn't include xfast but it's a similar concept...


Yes I saw the reviews on all the links, except the H&F. I saw the reviews for the Cooler Master Hyper 212 plus and then compared it with the Hyper 212 Evo and decided to go with the latter.

Oh the 6 x USB 2.0 is for the USB ports on the case. It still has USB 3.0 on the back so I'm fine.

You are right it does have two usb3 ports on the back as seen in the image of the back of the motherboard, Blue ports. Sorry I missed that and where you said Z68 chipset. However you might want to have them on the front too. One of my regrets with my I7 computer is USB3 only in the back.

Now that USB3 flash drives are starting to appear I'd love to have them in the front too.
My options now are change motherboard or buy a kit that has a USB3 card and a front panel that the card hooks too that fits into a drive bay.

Now that I have started using USB3 storage devices I'm not buying any USB2 storage.

Hmmm... that's some good advice...
I'll think about replacing the motherboard so that it can have USB 3.0 headers, but I probably won't go for it.
