Windows Vista Home Premium
Manufacturer: Acer
Model: Aspire M5201
Processor: AMD Phenom™ 9500 Quad-Core Processor 2.20 GHz
RAM: 4GB
Type: Vista 64 bit

Hello, so I've been getting blue screens for a while. Ive pretty much gotten used to them and just keep restarting my computer. They can vary from irql_not_less_or_equal or system service exception but usually its irql_not_less_or_equal but not the same .sys file when it crashes but there are a group that appear frequently such as win32k.sys

Ive tried system restore on my computer and it was fine for a bit then i started downloading all the windows updates and im pretty sure i got more bsod's when i installed vista service pack 2 but i had some to begin with. Ive downloaded Microsoft fix it centre to repair problems and also updated drivers I have a Radeon HD 3200 that is up to date and i dont know where to begin to fix it becuase it is mutiple errors.

The files i attached are only 3 of the many .dmp files i have becuase windows does not let me take ownership and zip them all at once but i can get more if needed

So i just tried it and it asks for username and password for the administrative username and password which i am assuming is from my comp not some mcafee thing but i wouldnt really know it so i just put the one username and pass i have on this computer and it says i could not be verified as the user who installed the product so it gives me some uninstall code thing but i dont have a trace of mcafee on this computer so i cant get the code from it

I've had a look at the minidumps, and they do not definitively point to McAfee as the cause of the BSODs, even though the McAfee drivers are dated 2007:
mfeavfk.sys Tue Jul 17 03:46:03 2007
mfehidk.sys Tue Jul 17 03:43:31 2007
mfesmfk.sys Tue Jul 17 03:47:55 2007
Mpfp.sys Sat Jul 14 00:21:33 2007 ... McAfee Personal Firewall Plus Driver
I would like the chance to debug some of the most recent minidumps: The 3 minidumps that you attached are dated 3 weeks ago (June, 26th):
  • Mini062612-03.zip
  • Mini062612-02.zip
  • Mini062612-01.zip
Please zip up the last 4 minidumps and attach to your reply so I can have a closer look. There's a chance I might get some more useful info from them:
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump <<< folder
  • Click on the most recent minidump file.
  • Hold down the <Ctrl> key, and click on the 3 next-most recent minidump files to also select them.
  • Release the <Ctrl> key.
  • Now, right-click on one of the selected files > Send to ... > Compressed (zipped) Folder.
The zip file will be located in the same place (the Minidump folder).
  • Attach the zip file to your next reply.
When you click on Add Reply, you will see the facility to attach a file just below the box where you type your message.

Ok well the mcafee drivers are dated 2007 because thats probably when i got this computer i dont remember but since i restored it it probably set it back to that time
Ive been thinking its hardware error since the adress of the problems keep changing or i guess just everything is bad

My internet service has been down for awhile (it is needed for debugging), so in the meantime I've had a look at the BSV report on your minidumps. I include below, the report by BlueScreenView about your minidumps:
  • It's interesting, but not overly helpful.
  • I'll have a closer look at the 4 most recent minidumps with WinDbg and get back to you (as soon as things settle down here).

I see you have successfully removed the McAfee drivers, and now are using Microsoft Security Essentials.

So far I am not making much sense out of the crash dumps. I am concerned about this one though Mini071512-10.dmp showing the following network drivers in the crash stack:
afd.sys Wed Jan 04 01:25:19 2012
tcpip.sys Fri Mar 30 01:24:52 2012

Let's collect some more information: I'll have a look at it and see where we are after that.

:step1: Please follow the instructions: Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions - Windows 8, 7 & Vista

(Note: When you run BSOD_Windows7_Vista_v2.64_jcgriff2_.exe, it will also run autoruns.exe ... and both need to be in the Documents folder!)
... with one exception to the following line under Step 4:
  • "Create a new thread HERE and attach the file(s)."
The BC forums will allow a total attachment size of only 512 kb (and what you need to attach will exceed this limit).
  • Please upload the zip file to a file sharing website of your choice and and post a link to it in this thread so that we can access your uploaded zip file.
See the suggestions in the following links for recommendations on file sharing websites:
  • http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/15-great-free-online-file-sharing-alternatives/
  • http://www.smashingapps.com/2008/08/28/5-best-free-file-hosting-services-to-store-your-files.html

I can recommend Posted Image: Also suitable is Posted Image

:step2: Please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy, and post a link to it in this thread.
  • It is a convenient and accurate way of providing us with details of your computer specifications.

:step3: Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.
  • Checkmark the following checkboxes:
    • List Installed Programs
  • Click Go.
When the scan is finished, a text file will open in a Notepad window.
  • Copy the entire contents of the Notepad window, and paste in your reply.
(Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.)

C:\Users\Aron\AppData\Local\Temp\WER9D41.tmp.hdmp
But ill get the specs individually from it hopefully it does stopp again

Operating System: Ms Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit SP2
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9500 67' C
Agena 65nm Technology
RAM: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (6-6-6-18)
Motherboard: Stops working when i try to find
Everything else seems to make it stop
Using a program called Belarc Advisor to analyze it

There are 76 minidumps available since 26th June, so clearly you are having a hard time at your end.

Still I have no clear direction in which to continue the investigation: Instead, there are several directions I would like to go, but since we can only do one thing at a time, I am going to propose at this stage that you carry out the following 3 steps:
  • Go to Add-Remove Programs and uninstall McAfee Installer Version 6,6,0,0
  • Provide me with the S.M.A.R.T data for the HDD.
... and if I give you the all clear after viewing the report, I will then ask you to ...
  • Run Driver Verifier (and I will provide instructions for you at that time).
=================================

How to obtain HDD S.M.A.R.T data on a Windows system
  • Download gsmartcontrol-0.8.6-2.exe
  • Run the downloaded application to install GSmartControl.
  • When installation is complete, run GSmartControl (you can start GSmartControl from the Start > Programs menu).
  • When the interface has loaded and scanning for hard drives is complete, click on the HDD icon to select it.
  • Go to Device on the top menu > View Details, and a new Device Information window will open.
  • Click on the Attributes tab to display the S.M.A.R.T data values.
  • Near the bottom of the window, click on View Output and a new Smartctl Output window will open.
  • Right-click anywhere inside that window > Select All.
  • Again right-click in that selected area > Copy.
  • Now paste that in a reply to me please.
Note: Please enclose the pasted report in CODE tags so that the spacing is preserved (to make it easy for all to read).

Thank you.

There's not too much wrong there, with the exception of:

5 Reallocated_Sector_Ct 0x0033 100 100 036 Pre-fail Always - 1

I would like to err on the safe side with the next step suggested being to test the hard drive.

Test a Seagate manufactured hard disk drive using SeaTools for DOS run from a bootable CD.

:step1: Please download SeaTools for DOS (CD) from Seagate's SeaTools for DOS web page

or use the following direct download link to download the latest version of SeaTools for DOS:
Download SeaTools for DOS ISO Image

The downloaded file name is SeaToolsDOS223ALL.ISO
:step2: Burn the downloaded .ISO image to a CD using the appropriate burning software.
  • If you do not already have a suitable burning program for writing .ISO images to disc ...
    • Download and install ImgBurn.
Ensure that you UN-check the box agreeing to install the Ask toolbar during the installation.
    • Place a new (blank) CD disc in the drive tray.
    • Choose Write image file to disc.
    • Under Source, click on the Browse button: Navigate to and select the .ISO file that you wish to burn.
    • Place a check-mark in the box beside Verify.
  • Click Posted Image

When the CD has been burned and verified as successful, it will be bootable.

:step3: Boot from the CD.
  • (You may need to access the BIOS Setup Menu or the Boot Menu and change the boot order to enable booting from CD before hard drive.)
  • From Basic tests on the Main Menu, run the Short test and then the Long test.

(The long test will take some considerable time to complete.)
The results will be shown as either a PASS or FAIL.
There is a chance that during the Long test, you may be offered the opportunity to attempt repairs on the hard drive:
  • If so, go ahead and attempt to do so, but ONLY after backing up all important personal files.
Edit to add:
The Seagate website has been rearranged so that the links provided in the output of GSmartControl are no longer valid. I have searched the Seagate site using the ID in the links and come up with the following links.

:exclame: ==> WARNING: There are known problems with these drives,
  • see the following Seagate web pages:
Results for first link:
Results for second link:
Results for third link:

Well i burned and tried out the ISO you sent me and yet again more problems...
It was fine for the short test it passed but the long test it just freezes and a small portion(s) of my screen turn black with small green text i didnt read it but im guessing this is my computers fault. Im pretty fed up with my computer i got it a few years back it was pretty fine im not saying this happened recently the blue screens have been going on for a while if you have more suggestion i would glady accept them but if more problems arise i might just take it to something to get it diagnosed and fixed hopefully not for alot and if thats the case just get a new computer entirely. It's not like i do anything complicated on my computer i just watch videos and play game etc, what regular people do so i dont really want to know why my computer is messed up this badly.
