I am trying to find a way to do vertical text in Word 2010 and cannot find anything that explains how to accomplish this. I need an option to have the text type out like this:

T
h
i
s

t
e
x
t

i
s

v
e
r
t
i
c
a
l

Any help you can give me would be great. Thank you!

In order to do that in MS Word you must use a Text box. If you're using Office 2007, insert text box-->Enter your text-->Select the box-->format-->Text Direction.

When using text direction, that only lets you make the text sideways up and down. I need the text to stay right-side-up as in my example, and go up and down.

I know what you mean. Unfortunately, I don't have Word 2010 installed on this machine, so I cannot experiment. In my research I have found indications that you can create vertical text in Word 2010 by using Word Art.

WordArt Vertical Text: To switch between vertical text and horizontal text, click WordArt Vertical Text on the WordArt toolbar.

Steps 7-10 for easy to follow instructions.

Note again, that I cannot experiment so I cannot say for certain that this will produce actual vertical text and not rotated text.

Thank you Orange Blossom, that is the closest I have come to what I was requested to figure out. Idealy, finding a way to do this with simple text is my goal, but this may work for the employee who requested me to find a way. Thank you.
