Hello!

I've recently run into some trouble with Text Enhance, which randomly highlights words and has ads pop up. I've tried looking for solutions, but most recommend deleting certain extensions on my internet browser (none of these extensions seem to be present on mine) or are specific to PCs. Anyone else run into this problem?

Some users have gotten rid of the pest by removing extensions. One in particular
was codec-M. Another mentioned DivX.

It was also advised to do this: "Go to the Safari menu and select Safari Preferences, then Privacy, then "Remove all website data". While you are there, select "block cookies from third parties and advertisers"

It's possible that another extension is involved. If you have added one recently or do not know
what an extension listed is, do a search for more info or disable it if possible to check if the problem is
solved after rebooting the browser.

EDIT: When you post back, tell us which browser(s) you are using/ have the problem in.

Also, if you have downloaded anything from Cnet or Download.com such as Free YouTube Downloader
that is also a source of the adware crap.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I'm using Google Chrome and the only extension I have installed is AdBlock. I cleared my cache and cookies on Chrome and did the "block cookies from third parties", but unfortunately this problems is still persisting. D: Thanks for your help!

Follow the advice given in the link below for using Ad Block to possibly block the ads and
other suggestions for finding the cause. Please post back with results.

EDIT: Do this, too.
type chrome://plugins in address bar in chrome
You can enable/disable plugins

Since the adware crap isn't showing in your extensions list, it is likely a plugin that
is causing the problem.

It looks like that worked! Yay thanks! Now, should I be worried about anything else with this? Like a virus or something like that?

It would be good if you could describe what you did....used Ad Block....found the plugin XXXX that caused the problem, etc.
It would help others who have the same problem.

I did see where other malware was involved in distributing this adware on Windows but not Macs.

You likely got this problem by downloading an app from a nonApple site/ approved source.
