Entire Thunderbird diappeared

Came home last night, sat down, clicked on my Thunderbird icon in the taskbar and...it opened as a brand new, first time user, intro to Thunderbird. I have 5 or 6 years worth of email and addresses, etc. Where did it go? It was working fine yesterday morning. Now, it's gone! Ideas??
