What do you mean by you are "a server access point"? The 96.38.162.X does come back to Charter Cable in Reno, NV and appears to be a valid IP address if you are a charter customer.

The 192.168.0.3 is your local LAN address. Your router is assigned your public address (96.38.162.X), and then uses NAT to forward packets/information to each local machine via a private/local LAN IP address. 192.168.0.1 is most likely your router.

169.254.175.111 is a default Windows IP when Windows cannot find a valid DHCP server. If you encounter a time where you're getting a IP similar to this instead of your 192.168.0.X ones, try entering the following commands in command prompt:

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

If those fail to get you a correct IP address, unplug your router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Then re-enter those commands again.

Concerning your PC virus/files problem, what anti virus programs have you run? Has your PC been deemed Malware-Free by anyone on this site?

When you state that you are a "server" - what exactly do you mean by this? Are you hosting services on your local PC? Game Hosting?

Also, please run MiniToolBox and post the results in a reply to this topic. More information on Minitoolbox can be found here.

Alright, I think I know what you're referring to.

When you run a net config / net config server you get an output that lists "Server Name \\Yeah"? - This is what people would type to access any files/folders you are sharing. This is perfectly normal for a Windows PC. I just ran the command to see exactly what you were saying and got the same output.

You are not a "server", it's just that Windows displays computer names (hosts) as \\ComputerName. If you were to share files/folders across your local network then people "mounting" network drives would enter \\ComputerName\Folder in the path area. To be a server, you would have to have a network setup - and add the needed services. Since from what I can tell, you have not done this and are not "serving" anything.

If the above is what you're referring to then your PC is perfectly fine. Your MiniToolbox shows no connection/hosts problems. Your minitoolbox also shows that you do not have a static IP which again reconfirms that your computer is not setup for "hosting" (server) anything.

Not trying to argue or direspect.. But my verbage and knowledge seem to point people in a diffrent direction then where I need them to be...Does yours say server connected and then gives path and addrress... Why is that mini box showing 3 tunnel adpt. if I ipconfig I only show one.. The mini box is showing my ip as 192.168.0.3 go to any site that checks ips with my computer including my server and you get the 96.38.162.91 ip.. That is a static that look that ip up and shows charter If I do nslookup server it says the carter address there ip server address and says cannot find...says same thing when you look up the 192 ip.. when you look up the96 ip sya charter...If you notice the mini box said C:\ drive was (OS)C:| When i get into there and open C: drive it does not even show a windows system.. in the local disc C: drive all is good I also had mentioned that I am now in the local disk after deleting a boot file... If it is ok and you can tell me how I have screen shots of the diffrent systems the ips programs... I do appreciate your time and patience... I have been dealing with this for a while and seem a little frustrated at times but .. Thankyou

Your Router has IP assign of you computer to 192.168.0.3 because of DCHP and your gateway is 192.168.0.1 that is your router that you have inside of your home which provide wireless network

your NAT ip is 96.38.162.98

when you lookup a IP address it request the router 192.168.0.1 to contact the ISP computer of 96.38.162.98 to find the ISP DNS sever to route back to you for example

Modem IP (NAT IP)>>>Router IP>>>Clients
96.38.162.91>>>192.168.0.1>>> 192.168.3
||
||
||
Dns Servers

When you have No Router
Modem IP>>>>>Client
96.38.162.91>>Assisn IP Automatically
||
||
||
Dns Servers

The Mini Tool kit does a ipconfig /all so we can see all of your configurations

if you do an ipconfig with no switches your only see the one

any of the IP lookup sites you use They use the NAT IP address

Does yours say server connected and then gives path and addrress

Yes.

Why is that mini box showing 3 tunnel adpt. if I ipconfig I only show one..

As coxchris said, it's because minitoolbox does a ipconfig /all. WIthout the /all you only get a brief overview.

The mini box is showing my ip as 192.168.0.3 go to any site that checks ips with my computer including my server and you get the 96.38.162.91 ip

As I briefly said in a previous post, your router uses Network Address Translation (NAT) so that all devices plugged into your router share the same public IP address. This public IP address will "trace back" to your ISP. In this case, Charter Cable in the Reno, NV region. All 192.168.X.X IPs are local only as in, they only work within your own local LAN.

If I do nslookup server it says the carter address there ip server address and says cannot find

a nslookup is to resolve a domain to an IP address. Not the other way around. For example, nslookup charter.com should output something similar to this:

C:\Users\Matt>nslookup charter.com
Server:  UnKnown
Address:  192.168.2.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    charter.com
Addresses:  2607:f428:3:1:80:80:80:1
          24.176.92.1

If you're getting "server timed out" for the non-authoritative answers, then it is most likely a problem with the DNS server. May be caused by congestion or something similar.

If you notice the mini box said C:\ drive was (OS)C:| When i get into there and open C: drive it does not even show a windows system.. in the local disc C: drive all is good I also had mentioned that I am now in the local disk after deleting a boot file...

Can you upload a screenshot of your "Computer" or "My Computer" folder? (The place that lists all drives of your PC. More info on how to take a screenshot: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/take-a-screen-capture-print-screen

Once you take it and save it via paint, upload it to a site such as Tinypic.com or imageshack.us and post the URL in a reply to this topic.

How does what you posted go against what either one of us (coxchris, me) has said?

192.168.X.X is a private class C IP range that is used behind a NAT router. This allows ISPs to cut back and only give customers 1 public IP address instead of a unique public IP address for each device the customer owns. If you go to the ARIN site, Here, you will see that all 192.168. IP addresses have been marked for private/local LAN use only.

The 96. IP is a public IP address that everyone on the internet sees when you visit them. This is the IP address that charter assigns you to use and it is your main IP address.

Basically it works like this

Charter assigns your modem/router a public IP address. In this case, the 96 one. Your router then uses NAT, which assigns local-only IP addresses to your computers/devices. The IP addresses assigned by your router are local only - they only work BEHIND your router. When you visit a website, your PUBLIC IP ADDRESS is shown to the site. This PUBLIC IP ADDRESS is assigned to your modem/router by Charter and ALL DEVICES YOU HAVE CONNECTED TO THE ROUTER SHARE THE IP TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD. The router then forwards all the information you request to your local PC's 192.168.X.X IP.

Okay..

3 ips.png:
This is IPv6 and IPv4 local IP addresses. Your router is most likely assigning both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. IPv4 is your standard X.X.X.X IP address while IPv6 is a newer technology designed to keep us from running out of IP addresses.

cccccccccccccccc.png:
What's the question with this picture? It looks like a valid Windows Install.

Explorer.png:
Again, what's wrong in this image?

me.png / server1.png:
Yes, mine appears the same way. As I said before, this is standard for Windows.

network.png:
According to this, you are successfully connected to your Wireless AP. This is not showing that your PC is hosting the access point, but rather that you have successfully connected to your router.

z drive.png:
Have you enabled file/printer sharing on the PC? If not, for some reason your users directory has been shared and mounted as a network drive. If you right click and select "Disconnect" it should remove that drive.

For obvious security reasons, I did not download/open the .exe files you uploaded.

Again, 192.168.X.X is your local IP address behind your router. The 96. IP is your public IP address. If you bypass the router and plug directly into the modem, you will probably get this 96. address to your PC. When you have the router in the middle, the router gets the 96. address and then uses NAT to forward packets to the correct local 192.168. address.

I will say this again... my ip until just a little while ago was the 192... the weird part of that is I was not wireless.... turned off in router disabled in system and according to my server wich cannot explain this thats a wireless ip.... i had a motorola suefboard cable router....hardwired.... then i know everyone keeps sayingthe 169 ip is a windows default or who evers but was my ip with the server quest.net.. whatever this is is smart enough to take control especially over any type of protection.. Im using the comodo fire wal and full suite... it is blocking the 192 ip... also its main page showed 264 outbound connections oh I know have a visable z drive listed in networks and i do not have a bluetooth private network nor do I have the usb drives connected not sure what the deal with files that are junction type think it has to do with virtual... Dont have.. I do thankyou you have gone farther then anyone else.. I dont care whay is causing this i just want it fixedI Also I dont know hat this means it is on ome of the screenshots but not sure if can see.. Im showing your ip and 4 local ips one is the 192 the others are like fe80::15D3
