When you install the motherboard chipset drivers it will install the ethernet controller driver.

hello Xircal,i just re-installed win xp home on the 'puter, the person who owned it said it was all they had, so if it's not on the win xp disk, what do i do next? atb dai

Normally though, you get all drivers on a CD that comes with the motherboard.
You also need to download Microsoft DirectX which you can get from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
