I have Windows Vista, latest service packs, 32 Bit platform. I have Norton AV (from my Comcast cable Internet). I use MalWareBytes, CC Cleaner and have I tried Windows malware removal and security essentials. I have defragged my drive, done a scan disk. The malware tools found nothing although Norton quarantined a trojan (name of 4adcdca-69ed74ca called "Trojan.Maljava!gen3) on April 26. This is about when the problem started.
I have uninstalled space hog programs and things I am not using much.
Nevertheless, my drive keeps losing many GB a day. I went from having over a hundred GB free on my 500 GB drive to only 2GB last night. Now I have 17GB free and I didn't do anything in particular to free up space. Ten minutes later, when writing this post,it says I have 14.9 free! The space seems to disappear, then reappear and then disappear again for no particular reason.
When I backed up my essential files on my Toshiba external drive, sometimes it would show up on Windows and other times, it wouldn't. It keeps telling me I need to format the J Drive. Same thing with trying to download Canon pictures from my camera, Sometimes it says "can't detect camera." My USB dock and cables are in good shape, no problems.
I would like a "HELPER" to help me run Combofix. I am an intermediate level user with some training in IT and in Help Desk for Vista skills.
Thank you so much for your help!

To determine if Comcfix is the repair .
We need a deeper look. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6-9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If GMER won't run skip it and move on.

Let me know if that went well.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?

Boopme, Thanks for your reply and help. It turns out a virus was not my problem and I don't need Combofix. Norton AV was continually backing up my drive to the point that it had eaten up most of my C Drive. I stopped the backup function and removed the Norton back-up files and now my C Drive in humming again.
But I'll be back to BleepingComputer frequently because you have some of the best tutorials and discussions out there on the Net. And if I ever should have need of Combofix, you are here. Again, many thanks! MELOCAT
