In the interest of accuracy, 30 posts a day assuming 7 days a week as it appears thats the assumption for 5 years is a total of 43,800 for 4 of those years. Then 10,980 posts for one year since one of those five years we can assume is a leap year. For a grand total of 54,780 posts not 50,000. This of course assumes an exact 5 year span, not say for example 4 years and 7 months +/-.

Now assuming a 10 hour day at the keyboard and those '50,000'+/- posts. 30 posts averages out to 3 an hour over ten hours. I'm fairly comfortable that at least a 1/10th of those posts which is 5000 posts. Would and or could be one or two word or at most a very short sentence posts that takes less than 30 seconds to compose and hit send.

So in the grand scheme of things a housebound physically challenged individual with limited means of meeting others might take up this endeavor. Or an individual that is self employed and works from home and multi-tasks could also easily meet those numbers. For two examples of potential subjects that would fit this alleged profile.

There are all kinds of people in this world that can meet via the Internet. Diversity and different ways to do the same things are what makes finding information on the web a culturally enriching experience.

The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.

As the primary care giver for an elderly parent it provides me a pleasant/relaxing diversion.

I love the face your dad makes in that avatar photo when you jokingly strangle him. Tell uncle Charlie we said hi!!

^^ Pointless post. Being "lonely." B)

One does not simply sit in front of the computer and make irrelevant posts just to reach high numbers of posts.. :thumbup2:

You'd be surprised. There are some out there who mistakenly believe that post count alone brings respect. Such people like to find 'easy' ways to buff their post count believing that it will make them important.

Now, not everyone is like this. Far from it. But these kinds of people do exist

True that.. I'm also with other forums.. people actually respect people who have been long with the forum with of course high number of posts.. They have certain " levels " that goes up if you reach a certain number of posts..

Galyn, technically we do that here to some extent the Title under your Avatar changes as your post count increases. I think either at 1000 or 2000 you can set it to what you want (1000 or 2000, is not hard and can be achieved by a well meaning person in about a year without any real effort) 4-8 posts a day is an easy pace to keep up with.

Yes you are right and majority of people respect that level and number.

I've read member's logs that contain more post replies than some members have attained since the inception off this forum, does that make them post "heroes"? No, just members with very sick systems.  I don't think anyone should feel guilty about what, how many, and why they post in a forum otherwise there wouldn't be a need for forums or forum members.

@Enriqe, And that's just fine, because that too is what makes a Forum. Some members read, some post intermittently, some post frequently and some post exorbantly (In the extreme sense) but the bottom line is that is each members' right and it doesn't make them "experts", only people who have the need and right to say what they feel is necessary. I've learned through some PM's that some of the questions (which I feel in some cases were stupid, I know, there are no stupid questions   ) actually helped some who were afraid to ask those same questions. So read on Enriqe and jump in whenever you are so inclined :thumbup2: ......
