IE opens. And shuts down.

IE opens. A small window opens and says your last browsing session closed unexpectedly. Would you like to restore your last session? or go to your home page?
When you click on either choice or try to X out, the IE window disappears. The screen returns to the desktop.
I can get into Google Chrome...but not directly into IE. Can you help?
