I am running a HP L2000 special edition windows XP. My touch pad works fine; I think it is sp/2. My optical mouse from Targus is old and was working until today. I am searching for a driver update but so far nothing seems to be working. Optic is fine. Love the mouse. It has a scroll wheel on top with rt and lft buttons; s/n B0508039183. I do not know if you call that a wheel ( I thought wheel was on bottom). there is nothing but light coming out of the bottom. anyway, I know it is an HID device that may not need a driver per se; but the microsoft windows HID upgrade is not working. I paid for (cough) driver tool, driver navigator etc and went to the hewlett packard site where it suggested I download another drivertool - then I realized I shouldnt keep paying.

Can anyone help me get this old mouse continue working?
Stay well,
SLB

Hello -
Is THIS your model and the drivers you are looking for -
Place your pointer over each one, and see if they match yours -

Thank You -
EDIT - Will your XP version update to SP3 or not ??
To check your SP - Go > Start > Right click on My Computer >Properties and it will show Version and Service Pack -

An optical mouse should not necessarily require drivers other than the ones XP installs, IME.

Go to Device Manager...uninstall the mouse drivers...reboot.

You might also just try a different mouse.

Since it's a laptop, you might also try uninstalling the touchpad drivers.
