question about billion and milliard

Hello,


I want know the next: You have billions and milliards, when an American speak over a billion, does the American than a billion or does the American just as the Europeans, a milliard.?
When I speak over a billion, than do I mean a number with 9 nils and not a number with 18 nils.
When I speak over a milliard, than do I mean a number with 18 nils.
I have created this subject because, I got in my country many discussions about this, so I do want know what an American does exact mean with a billion.

I must say that I saw numbers that I have never heard of.
Just as sextrillion. :blink:
So I will study that.


But indeed, between the countries there are lot of differents.


Ps. I have take a look again and I find one thing extreme in the table: There is not a Zillion.
In my young life did I learn that after a trillion, you get also zillion.
Also did I seen in a Scientist magazine, that was in the year 1983.

Or it must be, that the name of zillion were changed in quadrillion?
How ever, it is weird that there is no zillion in the table.

I remember as a wee bit of a lad using the term Ga-zillion but then again, I thought that number followed one dollar back in those days. If you had a dollar or more back then, to your peers you were a ga-zillionaire :wink:

I'm so sorry Captain, I have not heared of that, in the time that I was a young human, did I learn, that in our life have we Hundred, Thousand, Million, Billion, Trillion and than Zillion etc., but Ga-zillion, maybe does this exist, could be, but if that number exist, than ask I, how many nills have a Ga-zillion.?
A Zillion has 15 nills after 15 get we the Milliard.
999,999,999,999,999,99 + one nill make a Zillion.
A Zillion is: 1,000,000,000,000,000
When we have a Ga-zillion, how many nills is that.? I don't know.

Sorry CM, didn't mean to be confusing. A ga-zillion is actually just a fictitious term that means "A lot". A Googel is a 1 followed by 100 zeros.

When I was little (a bit more than a toddler), and received money from family members and friends of the family, every thing over a dollar was a Ga-zillion especially "Walking Liberty" coins (because they had the lady with the torch engraved in them), many a day was I a Ga-zillionaire :whistle: :whistle: . We, my siblings, cousins and I really had no concept of monetary value except penny-candy (back then penny candy was penny candy) :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical: :hysterical:

I understand and I think that we dream all over a lot of money, just as Zillion dollars, I must than say to myself, euro's.
It is so delicious when we have that money, but when I come back on Earth with my legs, than will I say, when I have a Zillion euro's in my secret safe, am I happy.? I don't know.
The fact that you're happy with more than a dollar, I can understand and you have absolute right.
I have not a Zillion and also not a Billion or Million on my count or secret Safe, but I have lot of money, what I have is at this moment more than enough.
I have now enough for my pension.
I think that there are no people that they have Billion or Zillion on his or her count.
Billion, could be, but Trillion or Zillion, no. Even Bill Gates have that not, also is he rich.
When I think on all these numbers, than I see little stars for my eyes.
But or there are people that have this sort amount, it is a very big number.
