It cannot be,until and unless you reveal your password and not using weak password.

Sorry, but that is not the only way a router can be compromised.
Vulnerabilities can also be exploited to gain unauthenticated access to a router, here is an example for a Linksys device:

someone else's pc, which has been VERY compromised in the past

Do you mean it was infected when it was on the same network as your router, or was it clean when it was on the network?
And was your router the gateway for this infected PC?

I think it was clean by the time I used the router with it. But it was so infected that I am not sure it is truly clean.

OK, since you have no indication that your router is hacked, if you want you can just check the settings of your router, particularly the DNS servers it is using and if any new users were added.

Everything is hackable. You just need the determination.
SYSTEM SPECS.

so to sum things up correct me if i'm wrong

Router can be hacked if a Computer on the Network or some one hacked the Wifi and was able to gain acces to the
Root of the Router

the simple thing that can Protect the Router is Firmware Protection By a Jumper or a Switch
or just to make another un changeable Firmware chip that can be used to clean the Bad chip
Simple and IDK why it's not implemented that the same for every Firm ware out there

BTW this way was implemented Long time ago PII generation

Routers can be compromised by changing the configuration and/or changing the firmware. A hardware switch protecting the firmware will not protect you from changes to the config (like being pointed to a malicious DNS server).

You can check if your Windows machine is using your router as a DNS server as follows:
go to the command line (cmd.exe) and issue command: ipconfig /all

If the entries for Default Gateway and DNS Servers are the same, you are using your router as a DNS server.

but at least you Can get back to a Clean Version if you detected that Hack not go throw your Router away
