Hello,

A few days ago my laptop got infected with a fake windows 7 2012 antivirus. I did a full scan with Malwarebytes and it showed 11 viruses with all but one checked for removal (PUP.Bitminer) i checked it anyways and proceeded with removal, which then said all had been removed successfully so i rebooted to see if it was gone and sure enough it was so i figured i was in the clear. The next day while i was doing a google search i kept being redirected to a totally different search results page and websites. It does it periodically, and its getting annoying. I did another scan with malwarebytes and only one thing showed up and that was PUP.Bitminer. I removed it again but it keeps coming back regardless. I did a search on it and thats when i found this site and learned how nasty this thing is. I tried using Rkill and it terminated 1 malware process (ill post the log) i didnt reboot afterwards, instead i did another full scan and nothing malacious showed up, so i thought i finally got rid of it so then i rebooted, ran another scan and sure enough it was back :( i dont know what else to do, i want it gone and dont have the money for a tech and im not very computer saavy so i have no clue as to what im doing. I hope somebody can help me.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

  • Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  • Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  • Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  • Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  • Do not run anything while running a fix.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.
