Hello everyone,

I did not know particularly where to post this, but I figured I would ask here in a computer savvy forum relating to video. If this is not in the appropriate category, can the administration please move this thread accordingly?!? Does anyone know of a website that I can view Television shows on my computer and through my browser for free without virus/spam/malware/spyware related problems? I ask because I just recently finished the first four seasons I bought of Smallville, and was hoping to find a safe website similar to a "Hulu" that has the rest of it. If not, I'll just wait until it becomes available at the library, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.I read an article online that suggested a few websites I can watch television shows, but wasn't sure about the safety of them...my WOT seems to be fine with the first two of these, but I figured I'd ask if anyone else has heard of these sites, or know of somewhere better/safer to check.

TVshow7.com
TV-video.net
freetvonline.com

P.S. I have already checked the wb website and have seen most of what they offer.

Thanks.

Happy Holidays

TV-video.net wants you to open an account and you need points to watch. I wouldn't go near that one.

TVshow7.com wants you to download software.

freetvonline.com also wants you to download software.

Has anybody downloaded the software from these last two?

First things first,

Thank you all for responding to my post. I really appreciate everyone's feedback and hope that the responses will continue.

4dude,
Thanks for welcoming me to the site. I enjoy the vast categories Bleeping C. offers. Sorry, when I initially posted I had not explored the websites in fear of virus/spyware/malware problems. Looking at them now though, you're right! the 3rd link I gave had some pretty lame choices in movies. but technically the second link had great choices...don't think i trust it though. I agree, Real Genius is a great movie by the way. I have it at home. lol

heavydude,
I'm not necessarily against signing up for a free account; I have one with Hulu. but you're right I wouldn't want to be required to download any software either...even if they don't spread a virus per say, I would be willing to bet the download would still include some major spyware with hidden agenda...lol The Graboid add-on for instance (from FreeTVOnline.com)...lol no thank you.

caperjac,
I really appreciate you suggesting a website for me to check out. My WOT seems to be fine with the website. (It's dark green) Yet, delving into more
background information about the site, I seem to notice there are 50/50 reviews about it...Several people have said the same thing you said about
the download links/icons and advertisements as highly dangerous,

visit here, here, some of the WOT user reviews here, and one person saying it was malicious on several occasions here.

In all fairness, other people have said that it is quite safe, but I am still not so sure about the clicking of pop-ups and advertisements being the sole method of catching these viruses and unwanted programs. On the WOT review I listed, one person went as far as to say they clicked on a movie and it took them to a website causing their anti-virus to immediately sound off. It supposedly caught "...a severe virus..." And a blogger of some sort, Mike Reed had some pretty unflattering things to say about the website as well.

In short, I really haven't formed a yes or no opinion about using ch131.com, but I will say that I personally think the biggest problem I will have with several of these TV sites, is the fact I am worried about clicking "links" to see different episodes, and being redirected to another website I am not familiar with. Or P2P Videos that random people upload various material (like Sidereel.com I believe does?), etc. Or what if you get a nasty advertisement that won't go away and you can't click out of it? Hard shutdown then?

Sounds risky to me...

Either way,

Glad to see I got some responses, and look forward to reading more. I see this thread got quite a few views, so obviously I am not the only one curious about the subject matter.
I hope everyone had a fun, safe new year celebration as well.
Thanks again.

**ArchimedesNose**

P.S. As much as I said I don't like the thought of clicking multiple links to different websites hosting the episodes, Sidereel.com does look very well set up. What do you guys think?

Try out icefilms.info i use this website and i refer it to my friends. Has high quality movies, but it requires you to install DivX Web Player 1.5 for Windows or DivX Web Player 1.4 for Mac. It also requires you to install a script on your choice of program (Greasemonkey, etc.). It doesn't come out with movies right away but it's pretty fast with t.v. shows.

Here's the link to the website:

Anyone know anything about Project Free TV? Project Free TV

My husband and son watch shows on this site all the time, but I'm concerned about security issues... drive-by downloads, malware, etc.

Thanks! :hello:

Have you gone to their respective networks (i.e., NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, WB)?

If my DVR screwed up on a show I wanted to watch, just wait a couple of days and those websites have the full version of the recent shows on there.

They also have archived shows from the whole season and possibly other years too. Although I haven't checked for past years.
