I've never cleaned an LCD screen before, and as much dust and finger prints as there are on this thing, it's about time I clean it. I have a microfiber cloth to avoid scratching the screen, and I read somewhere that a mixture of 50/50 distilled water and isopropyl alcohol made a good cleaning solution. the thing is, i have also read that you should avoid methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol, along with acetone, ammonia and so on.

So I am a little scared. If I am to avoid ethyl and methyl alcohols, is it really safe to use isopropyl alcohol?

I've used undiluted isopropyl alcohol without any issues, but I may have just been getting lucky. Therefore, I don't recommend doing it that way; instead, I suggest the 50/50 water to alcohol solution as mentioned in your post as well as in the following links:

OK, I tried it. I used some distilled water and just a little bit of isopropyl alcohol and a micro fiber cloth. It worked great :)

ArmorAll Glass cleaner is a good choice. Just spray it on the microfiber cloth instead of the actual screen.

I followed the steps too and it's didn't damaged my LCD, another TIP, wipe from 1 direction only, if you are going from top to bottom do not go bottom to top.
