Max temperature for your processor is listed as 60.3C.
Your temperatures get pretty close at 54C.

I assume the above log is from an idle computer?

Are you doing anything in particular when your computer restarts?

Sometimes I'm not doing anything, just sitting down on my couch(far away while my computer is idling) If you think its a heating issue(if that seems to be the only possibility) I just just an air compressed can to spray dust(it was actually quite dusty). The restart is very random and it is hotter than usual in Washington State(still not in the 90s though). Maybe I could move it from under the desk and on top of the desk instead so it gets better airflow? Would that help maybe?

Since you just cleaned it (did you take a good care of cleaning CPU and video card fans?), post new SIW report.

I know its been awhile since I posted here to fix it(been dealing with restarts). Any tips on safely cleaning the cpu? It does have a bit of caked dirt that the air blower can't get up. With the fan cover/blades in the way can't easily get to it. Can i use paper towels or should i buy something?

... been dealing with restarts ...

I take it that you have been putting up with BSODs/re-starting for nearly a year now!!!

Let's collect some more information: I'll have a look at it and help you try to resolve the problem.

:step1: Please follow the instructions: BSOD Posting Instructions: Windows 7 - Vista

(Note: When you run BSOD_Windows7_Vista_v2.64_jcgriff2_.exe, it will also run autoruns.exe ... and both need to be in the same location!)
... with one exception in the following line:
  • "4. Zip up the entire output folder + PERFMON and attach the zip file to your next post."
The BC forums will allow a total attachment size of only 512 kb (and what you need to attach will exceed this limit). Please upload the zip file to a file sharing website of your choice and and post a link to it in this thread so that we can access your uploaded zip file. I will have a look at the contained information and see if I can shed some light on your BSOD issue.

See the suggestions in the following links for recommendations on file sharing websites:
  • http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/15-great-free-online-file-sharing-alternatives/
  • http://www.smashingapps.com/2008/08/28/5-best-free-file-hosting-services-to-store-your-files.html

:step2: Please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy, and post a link to it in this thread.
  • It is a convenient and accurate way of providing us with details of your computer specifications.

:step3: Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.
  • Checkmark the following checkboxes:
    • List Installed Programs
  • Click Go.
When the scan is finished, a text file will open in a Notepad window.
  • Copy the entire contents of the Notepad window, and paste in your reply.
(Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.)

· OS - Vista/ Windows 7: windows 7
· x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? I think 64-bit, though I find folders labeled x86 from programs
· What was original installed OS on system? I think XP was the first OS on this computer
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer): My friend got me it as a birthday present byt I imagine full-retail.
· Age of system (hardware): Computer was built in 05-06
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? Installed win7 in summer of 2010, no reinstall since

· CPU: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600@2.40ghz(4cpu)
· Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
· MotherBoard: LTD ASUS P5NS32-E SLI ACPI
· Power Supply - brand & wattage

· System Manufacturer : A friend built this computer so I have no idea
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom): See above

Thanks. That gives me some information to work with.

I would like to have a closer look, but I will not be able to do that until later today, probably 8 hours or so ...

I'll get back to you when I have had the chance to debug some more dumps and check out the other info.

Just thought I would add: I opened up my case, and used pressure air to clean out the caked dirt on the processor. Its temperature is now down to 60.

Well, seems it goes from 60-70 sporadically.

There is something I want to ask:
  • You have been getting a lot of BSODs with restarts, and I think maybe some restarts without BSOD, but you have not mentioned the computer ever simply switching itself off at any time.
  • Has the computer ever switched itself off, rather than BSOD'd (crashed) and restarted?

I want to say yes, but rarely. I can't remember any specific incidents but I think it happened. The BSOD happens more often.

When the CPU over-heats and reaches a pre-defined temperature (from what I have been able to determine, this temperature is likely to be 100°C) the system will simply turn itself off to prevent hardware damage. I think you have the over-heating issue under control for the time being, so I would like to concentrate on finding the cause of the BSODs.

References:
Debugging the minidumps has not provided a clear indication of the problem. The minidumps seem to be much the same as those you were experiencing when you first started the topic many months ago. There is a wide variety of STOP errors, with a wide variety of possible causes suggested, which at first suggests a RAM problem. Since you have earlier tested the RAM, and although not conclusive in my opinion, what you have done so far suggests that the RAM may be OK. So, as a next step in the trouble-shooting process, I am going to suggest running Driver Verifier, to see if that will turn up anything useful. We will be hoping for a VERIFIER_ENABLED crash, that will pinpoint a problem with a particular driver: Any other result is not likely to be of use.

Run Driver Verifier following the instructions DRIVER VERIFIER - Windows 7 & Vista ... by jcgriff2
  • Notes:
  • Do not omit the first step, to create a System Restore point before enabling Driver Verifier.
  • Read the instructions on how to check the Driver Verifier Status.
  • Read the instructions on how To Turn Driver Verifier OFF when you have finished with it.
  • Read the instructions (and record them on paper so you have them if needed) about what to do IF you cannot start the system normally after it crashes under Driver Verifier.
  • Run Driver Verifier for 36 hours unless the system crashes. It doesn't matter whether you are using the computer or not during that time.
If your system BSOD’s under the Driver Verifier:
  • Locate the minidump file:
    • C:\Windows\Minidump <<< folder
  • Zip up the most recent minidump file:
    • Right-click on the most recent minidump file > Send to ... > Compressed (zipped) Folder.
    • The zip file will be located in the same place
  • Attach the zip file to your next post in this thread.
    • When you click on Add Reply, you will see the facility to attach a file just below the box where you type your message

Followed the steps to a certain point. Created restore point, turned the driver on and after that I was unable to get to windows.

Following errors occured with BSOD:

Bad_Pool_Header - Occurred too fast to copy error codes.

Memory Management: 3 times

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT (0x0...004E, 0x0...0099, 0x0...0765B, 0x000....000, x00..767B)

Not sure what to do with the instructions at this point. Maybe... restart with it enabled in safe mode and then do something with seeing which drivers verified?

Either way to summarize: I can't get to windows to to the start to the point of being logged on without being in safe mode.

Sounds good! Keep following the steps ...

Firstly, turn DV off, which should enable you to load Windows normally.

Secondly, zip up all those recent minidumps and attach to a reply.
