I'm a little confused here, how can you post a dump file if you can't start this computer?

good point. i'm sorry. i did this post in two parts. the first when the pc would not start, then I added to it when it finally did start. seems to go ok for a while, then either a blue screen about ati drivers or sometimes just a black screen. when it's restarted it goes ok for a while again.

Maybe go to ATI site and get the latest driver for your card.

Rather than post a .dmp file, let's try the following.

Download/install BlueScreenView, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html.

Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file.

When scanning is done, Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items.

Save the report as BSOD.txt.

Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content and paste it into your next reply.

FWIW: If there was an error message pointing to ATI drivers, I would have uninstalled the current graphics drivers and then reinstalled same.

I've had this problem once before if I have read your problem correctly. What I did to fix for me, I unplugged the computer, opened up my tower, and pushed in my RAM cards more snug in their slots. I realized that one was slightly unhooked from its slot which was causing the problem. I'm not sure based on the information you've given if this is the same thing, but if your BIOS loads completely but no Windows XP load screen comes nor a Windows Welcome Screen, then that might be your problem. ;)

I had the same issue with my PC. The computer went into a loop and that is all it would do. I checked PC MOBO,memory, all connections inside the PC and ended up just replacing the hard drive. Then I loaded the software back on the PC that came with the computer and it works great now. When I did a check disk operation it stated that there were a couple of bad volumes on the hard drive, so maybe that was the issue. I may have been able to format the hard drive to get it to work but I didn't want to lose the information that is on it. I am going to install the old hard drive into an PATA enclosure and see if I can at least retrieve the data from the drive. Anyhow problem solved with new formatted hard drive. Thank you.

Your last topic dealt with the same problem. The bluescreen view makes it blatantly obvious that the same problem exist that was addressed in your earlier topic. Upgrade the ATI drivers. ATI seems to bent on harming their reputation, they are becoming some what notorious for their bad drivers.

After doing more reading it seems that the 10.3 catalyst is your best bet.

A dying video card can cause Blue Screens relating to the hardware. So I would try the video card in another machine to see if it is stable. If the card does not cause blue screens in another computer then the card is fine, but if the card causes blue screens in another computer its the card. Also make sure you have enough power to power the card as that can cause issues.
