Hello all and Happy New Year!

This is just a thought to think about.
Todays date is 1111, Tuesday January 11, will be 11111, November 11 of this year will be 111111. I wonder how many myths will be projected on to these rare numbers? Armageddon? The coming of Christ? Or a Nuclear attack on a nation?
Remember 911? Next year the rare numbers will be 121212. The last chance that his will happen this century.

Is there a fact or fiction hidden in these rare numbers?

Well, speaking as someone who occasionally borders on a mild fascination with numerology, I think there's a deep part of the human psyche that looks for the patterns in static, so to speak. It's easy to find patterns in numbers. But it's not really 1111...it's 01-01-2011, just like it was really 08-08-2008 and not 888. I'm even one of those cranky people who believes the millennium started in 2001, not 2000. It's all a game of interpretation.

Personally I'm hoping for a summer 2012 apocalypse, which will both allow me to graduate and obviate the need to repay my student loans. :P

Can't wait for 11:11:11 AM on 11/11/11.

There's got to be some sort of celebration for that,

even if it only lasts 1 second.

You should be more interested in the golden ratio or otherwise known as God's Number.

These numbers are arbitrarily assigned anyway, so IMO, utterly pointless. They simply provide some humor at times. ~ OB

Humans tend to try and find significance in patterns, which humans are very good at (finding patterns, that is). If I might point out though, 11/11/11 happened 2000 years ago, 12/12/12 happened 1999 years ago, etc. There is nothing mystical about the golden ratio either, other than it happens to be a number that describes the ratio apparent in any number of natural phenomenon.

Who says that base-10 is the proper method of measurement anyway? What about base 8? Egyptians used base 12. So as Orange Blossom says, they are completely arbitrary.

I can remember back in the year 2006, tabloids claimed 06-06-06 was the day evil would consume the planet, being that he who has the mark and HIS number is 6-6-6, it was believed that the zeros were not used in Hebrew as an actual numeral, but instead were added later to the English language as place holders of null, such as neither were vowels such as A-E-I-O-U and Y ever used in the Hebrew alphabet.

But as I said in my opening post, what claims will be brought forth in relation to those numbers?

Everyone who is a Christian and believes, has wondered when that day will come, some have tried unsuccessfully to unlock the mystery and predict as to when Christ's coming will be.

But they still count those numbers trying to unlock its secret just the same.

As Orange Blossom pointed out, these numbers are arbitrary. November 11, 2011 in the Western calendar is Cheshvan 14, 5772 in the Hebrew calendar and shiyiyue 27, 4707 in the Chinese Lunar calendar. In the Mayan calendar, it would be represented as this:
Posted Image

In Unix time it will be 1321009871.

Completely arbitrary. Just pick an epoch and start counting.

(2011 is also a prime number... that must mean something BIG is gunna happen!! :o )
