i"ve hit the f8 ant the right time.and the black screen pops up asking me what mode i want to go into to, but i chose safe mode but all it does is takes me to the sign in screen into my name or admin. and i tried both but it just takes me to a black screen. Saying safe mode in the edges of the screen. then from there i just reboot cause nothign happens fromt there. It's F8 - it just takes hitting it at the right time (unless it's been disabled) - check the instructions here:

Il have no anti-virus scan at all, and i disbaled the firewall that came with XP. If you would like to know what what i have at startup just tell me and i'll post it up. BUt for now i've check the MSCONFIG and the start up and all i have check is thre items. Which are.....1. SMAX4PNP........2. DUMPREP 0 -U.............3. ATIPTAXX....other than that i have much more on the list but thoses are the only ones that are checked. Thanks in Advance. That probably means whatever is causing the problem is one of the first things loaded. what anti-virus do you use? Check their site and see how to start it from the command line. That maybe the only way to free up the computer.

Would any of the following programs that you recommended help me with the problem with starting my computer in safe mode?I would recommend you install the following software.
Install only one of the antivirus' listed
AVG Free Edition Antivirus(I personally use)
Avast Home Edition Antivirus Freeware
The following are antispyware. I see you have a couple and thats fine just add the others.
Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta
Spybot
AdAware SE Personal Edition
Ewido Security Suite - 14 day trial
I like this little utility to clean temp files and to erase cookies I don't want.
cCleaner
Both of these are excellent firewalls. Disable windows firewall before enabling the third parties firewall.
Sygate 5.4
Zone Alarm

Thanks for the advice, but i was also wondering if you wold have any idea for the issue i have with running my dell computer in safe mode. If you u do that would be great. Has far as i know I can boot my computer into command promt. Other than that i just picking loading up in safe just doesn't do the job. If there a way in which i can run a cleaing program or delete the file that pops up the WINFIXER from the command promt, please up. ThanksIt sounds like you have an infestation of malware.
Try running the following scans using Internet Explorer. Set them to fix what they find.
