Hi, I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 which I recently reloaded about two weeks ago.

I occasionally see a strange popup window when I log out of my gmail account.

The url is https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&view...gle.com&t=1

and it generates a 403 code when it comes up. It doesn't do it all the time, maybe just once or twice a day.

I see this with Internet Explorer which is my primary browser. I also have Google Chrome installed (and so whatever background processes google installs with that).

I've looked for spyware with Trend Micro Housecall and found nothing.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior or heard of spyware or gmail misconfiguration which might cause this popup?

Thanks so much for any assistance.

EDIT: Removed HJT log, inappropriate for XP forum ~ Hamluis.

Hi, I don't think I'm allowed to post my HijackThis log, but I don't see any problems reported within it. If required, I can mail privately or attach as a gzip file (so it doesn't catch on search filters), whatever is easiest.

Thanks!

Hey, sorry to keep bumping.

I just wanted to make clear that the strange url is launched in a separate browser window and I'm not sure why a new browser instance would ever be launched. (I'm more than a little concerned that some process is attempting communication with gmail and fails after I logout).

The actual gmail logout works as normal. It's the extra popup window that has me concerned.

Going to a previous version of gmail resolved this for me and has made gmail a little more stable as well. (Previously had occasional and intermittant connectivity issues when logging in or opening emails.)

Just FYI.
