I exit out of Internet Explorer window, but iexplore.exe remains in task manager.
If I open up Internet Explorer again, then exit out, a second iexplore.exe remains in task manager
and so on
so I end up with lots of iexplore.exe in task manager, even though all the Internet Explorer windows have been exited.
Right now, this is happening with IE version 6, under XP Service Pack 3.
This is because I have been trying to resolve another problem that I honed in to be a problem with internet explorer.
So, it behaes this way with version 6, if go up to version 7, IE won't exit at all, etc., etc.
Underlying problem seems to be multiple occurrences of iexplore.exe in task manager.
Takes up memory, ends up slowing down pc, etc., etc.
I've run combofix, to no avail.
EDIT: Moved from XP to Am I Infected forum ~ Hamluis.
