The simple rule that I apply...if I have a program icon on my desktop (I like desktop icons) or if I look at my installed programs and don't recognize a given program as being useful or used by me...I uninstall it.

Of course, anything that falls into the security area that was issued by Microsoft...remains on the system.

Everything else, other than Java updates for Java users...is a matter of personal preference.

I take the time to look up installed programs that I am dubious about and base my decision on that plus usage (or non-usage).

I have a question regarding the updates to Media Player < 11 and IE < 8, since I use the most current version, can the updates for Media Player 9 and 10, as well as IE 7 be uninstalled?
