Respected Sir,

I wish to know about the following :

If a PC, with MBAM installed on it, has got infected with a virus and the virus is not allowing the update of MBAM then
how can one use another PC(not having any virus) to get update virus definition file of MBAM and then how can one
install it on the infected PC(already having MBAM setup installed).

Thanks in advance for the information.

In answer to your question:

]If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

You can move that executable to the infected machine via flash drive or CD

However, if you are having viral issues I suggest you start a thread in Am I infected? What do I do? stating all your symptoms, any steps you have already taken in an attempt to solve the problem, and any other details you can provide that may prove useful. Someone should be able to help you there!

Respected Mr. Blade Zephon and Stang777,

Thanks for the information provided.

At present there is no infected machine. However I am working in a company having hundreds of PCs on a LAN and most of them have viruses. My company do not invest much in anti-virus. My job is to maintain them. Sometimes I load MBAM
on machines(as it is free AV). During the installation on some infected machines I experience this problem. That is why
I seek the information.

Thanks a lot for your cooperation.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware database definitions file (mbam-rules.exe]) is not updated daily. Another way to get the most current definitions if you're having problems updating through the program's interface or have already manually downloaded the latest definitions shown on this page, is to do the following: Install MBAM on a clean computer, launch the program and update through MBAM's interface. Copy this definitions file (rules.ref) to a USB stick or CD and transfer that file to the infected machine. Copy rules.ref to the location indicated for your operating system. If you cannot see the folder, then you may have to Reconfigure Windows to show it.
