Google Search redirect - adware.mywebsearch

Hello,

I am new to Bleepingcomputer and hope someone here can help me fix this issue.

Google search started coming up with redirected links a few days ago.

I tried scanning for viruses using AVG, Avast, superantispyware, Ccleaner, EasyCleaner, and finaly Malwarebytes was able to find 5 files infected with mywaySA. It was able to delete 4 of the 5 files but the registry key that is infected keeps coming back up after reboot. I'm not even sure if mywaySA is the cause of the google redirect but its the only thing I've been able to find.

Hopefully someone here can help me clean out this computer and restore Google.

Hi Sjpritch25 and thanks for helping.

A few days after my initial post I found a thread that described my redirect problem.
Their solution was to delete a fake "wdmaud.sys" file that was located in the c:\windows\system32" folder.
I had this file and deleted. It seems to have corrected the redirect issue but I don't know if I'm completely clean.

I don't see anything wrong in your thread.

Google search seems to be working properly now but malewarebytes continues to find "adware.mywebsearch" in a registry key but is not able to remove it.
I originally thought this was the source of the google redirects. Should I be concerned that its still on the computer?

• On the left pane, click on Regisitry Tab.
• Navigate to the following key/s (one at a time).
• HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{4d25f926-b9fe-4682-bf72-8ab8210d6d75}
• Click on the above key to highlight it.
• Right-Click on the key and choose Delete. Repeat for the other key if (needed).
• Go to File ----> Exit to close IceSword.
• Reboot your computer.
• Update MBAM again, run quick scan. In your next reply, please include a fresh HIjackthis log and MBAM log. Thanks

Go ahead and delete icesworden122 folder and file from your desktop.


Now that your system is clean you should SET A NEW RESTORE POINT to prevent future reinfection from the old restore point AFTER cleaning your system of any malware infection. Any trojans or spyware you picked up could have been saved in System Restore and are waiting to re-infect you. Since System Restore is a protected directory, your tools can not access it to delete files, trapping viruses inside. Setting a new restore point should be done to prevent any future reinfection from the old restore point and enable your computer to "roll-back" in case there is a future problem.

To SET A NEW RESTORE POINT:
1. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click "System Restore".
2. Choose the radio button marked "Create a Restore Point" on the first screen then click "Next". Give the R.P. a name then click "Create". The new point will be stamped with the current date and time. Keep a log of this so you can find it easily should you need to use System Restore.
