Infected with "not-a-virus: adware.win32.onestep.z"

I recently ran a trial-version Kaspersky scan on my computer and it detected several instances of the following adware: "not-a-virus:adware.win32.onestep.z"
I deleted all the infected files using Kaspersky however Im curious if whether additional steps are needed to completely rid my computer of the adware. Here is my HJT log:

Please run F-Secure Online Scanner.
This scan is for Internet Explorer only.

• It is suggested that you disable security programs and close any other windows during the scan. While your security is disabled, please refrain from surfing on other sites. Refer to this page if you are unsure how.
• Go to F-Secure Online Scanner
• Follow the instructions here for installation.
• Accept the License Agreement.
• Once the ActiveX installs, click Full System Scan
• Once the download completes, the scan will begin automatically. The scan will take some time to finish, so please be patient.
• When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button.
• Click the Show Report button and copy the entire report in your next reply.

Save Uninstall List with HijackThis

• Double click the HijackThis icon on your desktop.
• If you see a while screen, click Main Menu at the middle bottom of the window, otherwise move onto the next step.
• Click Open the Misc Tools section.
• Under System tools, select Uninstall Manager....
• Near the bottom right, click Save list... and save uninstall_list.txt onto your desktop.
• Close out of HijackThis.
• Post back with uninstall_list.txt.

Hi,

The F-Secure Online scanner was unsuccessful. As soon as the scanner finishes downloading all its components, I get the infamous blue screen then my computer quickly restarts itself. Very strange. I followed all the instructions properly: met all the hardware requirements, disabled Norton anti-virus auto-protect, and have java and activeX enabled in internet explorer with medium security level. Any suggestions?

I don't see anything wrong.

I see that you are running more than one antivirus program, Norton and Kaspersky. It is not recommended that you do so. In addition to wasting resources, the programs may detect virus signatures in the other and cause false positives. The different drivers used by the programs can cause crashes.

Please uninstall them until you are only running one antivirus using Add/Remove Programs.

Post back a new HijackThis log after you have uninstalled one.

Now try to run F-secure after.

Well the computer just seems a little sluggish, like the time it takes to open firefox for example. but if we are sure its not malware, then I will try other methods of speeding up the comp (disk defrag, disk cleanup, etc.). I also did another kapersky scan before I uninstalled it and that also reported zero infections.

For general slowness problems, take a look at Slow Computer/browser? It May Not Be Malware. Read How to use the Startup Database to identify and disable uneeded processes and increase the amount of available resources.
