Hi .

What makes you say that all your .exe files (downloaded) are corrupted?

Manufacturer/model of NIC installed?

Have you checked the status of the NIC in Device Manager (looking for any indication of problem)?

Have you run chkdsk /r or the Graphical Version equivalent?

Have you checked Event Viewer for clues that may be related?

XP Chkdsk, Using the Graphical Version (My Computer) - http://www.updatexp.com/windows-xp-chkdsk.html

How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/

Does your system have an nVidia chipset?

Actually, i am having problems whereby my system will give me "Window Explorer encountered an Error and need to close", or some random reboots ... discovered the corrupted file thing after i tried to download AVG, bitdefender, norton to protect my system but i failed ... I have 3 partition on my hard disk.
Reformatted like 4 times on the C: partition where the OS is found.

After installing all the stuff (network drivers, graphics card, antivirus, windows update, SP2 , etc), everything looks fine , then the horror will come ...

Any help will be nice

Hi Preceptor.
Best way to start is to see if these downloads are "really" corrupt.
My suspicion is that they are not and you have a hw problem but you need to be sure. Take one of these "corrupt"
downloads and attempt an installation on another computer. This will at least give us a better starting point.

FWIW: Running chkdsk as you did (not in accordance with directions) only results in a read-only performance, with nothing being repaired or recovered. Actually, it was my error...I should have stated that you need to put checks in the options for Scan and for Recover when they are presented, my apologies.

If you rerun it and put check marks in those two options, it will do what it can to make the system run more efficiently, thanks.

Well, Step 4 states that

Step Four: Run the chkdsk utility by typing in the following command:

chkdsk c:

..or

chkdsk c: /f /r

Since its a 'or', i did the first one, which is chkdsk c: in my prompt ...

Was thinking why i am not prompt to reboot

Lemme try again :flowers:

There are several different ways to run chkdsk and, unfortunately, several of them are in that link.

IMO, the easiest way is to follow the directions for doing so Using the Graphical Version or Explorer.

If you are going to use the method you chose, you need to type chkdsk /r , exactly as I typed it.

The illustration you quoted is for running the read-only mode on partition/drive C: and it's not necessary to insert the C: (because that's where chkdsk will always run if no drive/partition is specificed).

We'll get there .

Take a look at related post: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/90322/entry-point-resetstkoflw-not-found-in-library-msvcrtdll/

Replacing that file (msvcrt.dll) seems to be a common recommended solution for users with this type of situation.

Looked at the link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318730 but it seems to be meant for Windows NT.

I took a look at the resolution and it state

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, replace the following DLL files with new copies from a Windows NT 4.0 computer that is updated to the same service pack level and that is running the same version of Microsoft Internet Explorer as the Windows NT installation on which you experience this issue:
