I would like to give it a try. Java 6-14 will not load even with KIS turned off.

Hey all . I'm loving this site but can't seem to get the web based client chat to work . I do have Java , when I go into the page to load up it it just goes blank and doesn't even come . Any ideas besides web security this site should be unblocked and allowed , which it is .

Do you have any sort of ad-blocker or popup blocker that you can turn off for that page?

You can also test to see if you have the latest java, and it is working at this page: http://www.java.com/en/download/dt_verify....rs_jre=1.6.0_13

EDIT: I just tested the IRC application and it is working.

EDIT2: You can also try clearing java cache which is explained, if needed, in the following link: How do I clear the Java cache?

I have this problem when using the Web chat in Google Chrome. Works fine in IE8 now.

Alternatively you can try to use www.mibbit.com (you will need some additional information then, which can be found here).

The web version of the IRC client is not written in Java (used to be, but not anymore.) It's an Adobe Flash application that is located on Geekshed.net. Make sure that you have the latest version of the Flash Player plugin installed and that Geekshed.net is given the appropriate permissions in any security, ad blocking, or script blocking tools you might use.

Alternatively, if you plan on spending any significant amount of time in the chat (as many of us do) you will want to find yourself a decent full-fledged IRC client, since the web version is rather basic and limited.

The Flash file is hosted on http://flashirc.geekshed.net . If something on your computer or browser is blocking that address, then you won't see anything. Also, make sure you give the client at least 30-60 seconds to startup before giving up, especially on a slow connection.

You don't see a button at the very top left of your browser that says 'Chat'? In my browser it's between Tools and Feeds. You might need to enable a tool bar, I forget which one that is. It's a grey one at the very top and has File, Edit, View, Bookmarks, Feeds, Chat, Tools and Help buttons.

Press the ALT key if you do not see the basic Windows bar that Animal is talking about, then Right click on the bar and make sure the Menu bar is ticked to see it.
