I have found out about a program called NoScript that stops Java items running on websites unless you allow them.

Try it out!!

It is a very useful extension for Firefox.

As jgweed said, this is a very useful extension for Firefox, which several people use, along with Adblock.

I'd also recommend McAfee Siteadvisor, if you're not already using it.
