Early this morning my CPU starting running at 100%. everything froze up and all i could do was shut down. I have restarted five times and each time windows loads my preferences than my CPU shoots up to 100. I don't know what to do. Is my CPU shot? My fan seems to be working properly. I don't know what to do. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Is the CPU hot? Do you happen to have any spyware/antivirus programs on that could be scanning? Tried starting in safe mode?

Open your Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), click the Processes tab, and see which process is reading the highest.
