Hello,
I have a ze4315 pavilion hp laptop. The cpu overheats and computer turns off about 5-10 mins after I turn it on. It will turn off faster if you make the cpu work harder. I have tried cooling pads, even ice packs under the laptop but this only helps a bit. Is there a way to permenently fix the problem? I have already dusted and cleaned the insides and the fans are working properly. I have run programs and it really is the cpu overheating. Thanks for any help or advice.

maybe the fans are working properly, but with not enough power to cool the CPU. Just a guess really, but i would say the problem is on the fans

Try blowing out the vents with compressed air - this'll help temporarily. If the overheating continues, then service inside the case is called for.

This happened with a customer's HP l2000 Livestrong laptop. I just took it apart, applied thermal grease to the CPU, put it back together and it worked good. If you don't trust yourself to take apart a laptop (they're not easy, beleive me) than bring it to a shop and just tell them what you need done.
