I just want to know what everyone thinks. its for college, but i will be using it for EVERYTHING. I guess they got rid of the other Inspirons and I wanted another 9 cell battery. and no windows vista. I know for a fact u can call it in and order it and request no OS. but do you think they can throw in another battery ( for a charge duh)?

what does everyone think. I will be ordering this within a week or so. So i need to know if its good enough or if i should change a spec. Is there any other good laptop makers out there that let you customize what u want inside? cuz id sure love to have more ram.

Thanks.

I like it except for the OS, I would stay with XP Pro. I am not to keen on Vista till the first service pack comes out. But that is just me.

I agree with aklan. Also, I'd suggest that if available, you get a dedicated video card because the shared cards steal from your system RAM and the performance isn't as good. Also, if you need, a bigger battery is always better.

Other than those 3 things, it's a nice system! smile.gif

Well I'm gonna get spanked for this, but I buy my software from eBay. Since 2003 I have bought 67 copies of Windows (9x, W2k, W2k advanced server, XP home and Professional. I have get to have a problem. I am just carefull whom I buy from. Usually something like an OS I will make sure they have 1000+ Positive feedbacks and at least 98%+.
You should be able to purchase a copy for around $130.

Nah, no spanking. I buy EVERYTHING from eBay, it is quite possible the best thing since sliced bread, lol. Ebay is the reason my 16 year-old laptop still works (sort of) like new! I love it!

ComputerMan23,
I'd suggest even getting XP media center, it looks cooler and has the same, if not more, features than XP Pro. Also, I think newegg.com sells XP media center new for only about $110.

I agree with the others. It is a nice system that will work for a couple of years with no problems (if taken care of it well). And too I would change the video for a dedicated video card, so you don't share your ram, the bigger the battery the better, and XP pro instead of vista.

GL with your purchase mate
