I am moving, and heard that when you move a computer, there are precautions that should be taken.
I remember something about "setting" the hard drive (?).
What would I have to do?
Thank you.

No being rough on it... don't drop it on the floor. Besides that, a PC is pretty resilient, all you have to do is unplug it and press the power button to drain any remaining power. Make sure nothing stabs it, crawls into it, you'll be fine.

I appreciate your help.
I didn't know if there was something about fastening the hard drive or things like that.

Also, if you have to tip the computer on it's side, make sure the motherboard is parallel with the ground. That way, if the computer is jolted or, if you're in a car and go over a pothole or some kind of bump, the CPU, expansion boards, etc. will go back down into the motherboard and not pulled off the board.

This used to be called parking the hard drive heads. all the new drives autopark the heads when turned off. I still have two old MFM hdds in an IBM PS2 Model 8580 that you must exit WFW 311, cd\BIN\
and then type park, hit enter, type Y, and enter once more.
