I've just downloaded the iso's for NetBSD and was wondering if anyone has any experience and/or tips for me. I've used linux (Gentoo, Debian, KNOPPIX, Mepis, random others) and am pretty comfortable with that. I have never tried any form of BSD though, so this will be a first.

As far as I can tell, NetBSD will be fairly similar to Gentoo. For me, it is the package manager that makes, or breaks a distribution. Same goes for any variant of *Nix.

pkgsrc is the NetBSD package manager, and it like Gentoo's package manager, it fetches, and compiles programs from source.

NetBSD supports KDE 3.5.7, and Gnome 2.18. Hardware support is not as good as a Linux distribution, and many common Linux apps are not BSD compatible, but often have an alternative. Such as the Project Evil/NDISulator program, instead of NDISwrapper.

Other than that, they should be very similar. After all, Linux was designed to be a BSD/Unix system.
