Been running Vista Business Version for about a Month now. This morning tried to start Vista and it now gives a message on starting up right after
the Verifying DMI Pool Data.

Message states: "NTLDR is missing"

and yes this was an upgrade from Win XP Pro

I do not know what needs done to recover it or force it to start Vista.

I thought that Vista used a boot file and XP used the NTLDR file.

Any suggestios?

ntldr is used a bit differently in Vista (I don't know the details). I'd suggest booting from your Vista DVD and running the repair options located there. This is most likely either a corruption of Vista/boot files, or a bad hard drive. You can run a bootable diagnostic from the manufacturer of your hard drive to rule out the bad hard drive.

I had a problem like this with XP-PRO when I added Norton systems works. lost my HD (NTLDR)

boot with your Windows cd.
select repair.
it takes about 15 seconds.
it works.
