I recently installed a new CPU on my pc and find that I get a message when i boot my pc

"Warning!" CPU has changed!"

Please re-enter CMOS settings and remember to save before quit.

I enter setup and really don't change anything (don't know what to change if anything) so i do save and exit, when i do this it's like my keyboard becomes unresponsive and i have to do CTRL-ALT-DEL to reboot the pc. killcomp.gif

I never really payed much attention to this message as it had no effect on performance or anything, then recently my pc started rebooting itself at random I tried different methods to fix this (even talking to microsoft tech suport wacko.gif ). could it be because of the CMOS settings?

any help is appreciated

my Motherboard is 865PE-A V2.0

Are you sure the new CPU is compatible with the mobo? Easiest way to restore system defaults is to pull the mobo battery for 15-30 mins. Enter the BIOS and reset date and time

I'm not even sure of the manufacturer of the CPU (or how to obtain it). I'm not confident enough in my pc repair skill so I'll take it to a pro and see what he thinks. thumbup2.gif
