Got a new Dell Inspiron E1705 a couple of months ago, and found a few problems that I was hoping would sort themselves out, partcularly as the obligatory Windows OS patches and fixes come out. But no luck yet. I stumbled across this site, and hopefully y'all can help me out.
I prefer to run Netscape and Eudora rather than Microsoft versions for multiple reasons. Installation was fine, but upon the initial startup of each program I got the usual "this is not set as your default browser/email program. Would you like to do that?" message. I say yes, and go on about my merry way. However, with Eudora, I got the message "Eudora was unable to update the system registry. Your default mail program has not been changed." This message now appears every time I start Eudora. When Netscape starts, I get the same " this is not your default browser. etc." mesage. Clearly the default settings for browser and mail is not getting changed to what I want it to be.
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium Version 6.0 (build 6000)
Browser: Netscape version 8.1.3
Mail: Eudora version 7.1.0.9
So, can someone help me figure out to let these programs change the registry, or how I can go in and do that myself?
Thanks very much.
Mike
