My computer came with a DVD/CD writer, and for a long time it hasn't been detecting DVDs. CDs work fine, and I can burn them, but it can't tell that there is even a DVD disc in it when I stick one in. I've reinstalled the driver and everything, but I still can't seem to get it to detect a DVD. At one time, It did work, and I burnt a few DVDs and stuff.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like maybe the laser went out on the DVD, it happens. When you look in the device manager is it listed as a dvd-rw? Or what is it listed under? blink.gif

Have you tried different DVD's? Can youi please advise brand of your DVD writer and the DVD's you are using. There could be comptability issues.

I've tried plenty of different DVDs, whether they be empty, a homemade one, and some offcial movies.

When I get home I'll see what its listed under. I'm currently at school...
