I may need to format my hard-drive. Presently it has Vista on it but I don't think my memory is big enough for the Operating System. Its running extremely slow and I have had errors pop up all over the place. If I insert my Vista disc, would the command format c: work? If not, how do I format my hard-drive then?

Hi Jesse, you can format just as you would do with an XP disk, boot to the cd and you will be given the option to format. What I would like to know is how much memory do you have and what version og Vista are you running? If you are going to put XP back on you can format with the XP disk.

I have 512mb of Ram and was running Vista Home Premium. I tried using USB thumb-drives as addditional RAM, but that didn't go over so well. Do you have any recommendations?

I am a satisfied Vista user and thought I might nose in here. Your Ram is certainly a big problem, but what are the other two important specs, your CPU speed and your graphics card? If they are OK, then if you could squeeze your budget to 1 gig of memory, you would find the performance much better. 2 gigs would be optimum.

You can always use a bit more ram 1 gig even in XP will be benificial.
