My Hp is no longer wanting to charge. It is not charger but appears to be the port for charger on the laptop itself. The prong on the mother board appears to be broken. Previously I had to have the charger cord pulled tightly in one direction to get it to charge, and now nothing. Anyone know how to repair this without taking into the shop?

From what I understand (haven't done this myself) - it'll take about $50 and some soldering to replace the part. But, you'll have to disassemble the laptop to get at it, and then you'll need some mighty good soldering skills not to hose the mobo while you're trying to fix it.
I'd suggest taking it to a small computer shop in your area for an estimate. FWIW - the larger computer repair places usually send them out to be repaired. Their fix is to replace the entire mobo - which is very, very expensive!
