I just want to rid myself of Internet Explorer.. HOW??

Since IE is so interwoven into your OS you can't really remove it, without major operability issues. Just don't use it. I have OE on my machine for XP updates and MS website browsing and sites that won't render on any other browser. Other than that, I use an alternate browser or three and just ignore IE. I don't even have a desktop icon for IE.

Download FireFox and use the IE Tab extension. you cannot get rid of IE but this way you can avoid using it as much as possible

If you just want it out of sight go to start, control panel, add/remove programs, windows components, and uncheck ie and click next and go through the wizard and it will be gone, for the most part.
