Yep.. your putter can't find cd-rom drivers cause you deleted them.. I think it would be easiest to install Windows again, but you'll need a boot disk in order to load cd-rom supporting drivers.. Do you have boot disk? if you don't, you can d/l one here
Let me know if you need assistance with instalation.. smile.gif

Hi raegstar.. I think it's much better to reply to topic instead of sending a private message.. smile.gif So that more people with similar problem can benefit from given answer. Maybe one of mods can move this topic to apropriate forum as this got noting to do with introductions..

Windows 95 diskette does not have CD-ROM support and is missing a few recommended files. Windows 98 boot diskette however will give you all the needed files as well as CD-ROM support. So download Windows 98 SE OEM from site I already mentioned.
(Alt1 and 2 are alternatives if one download location is to bussy or down) Save downloaded file (boot98se.exe.) to map of your choice, put an empty 1.44 floppy disk in your computer and double-click on boot98se.exe. Writting process will begin, and when completed, you'll have Win.98SE Boot-Disk.
It's important that computer you use to make start-up disk is virus free so virus won't be able to writte itself to your floppy disk. Once everything is done, lock your floppy so it's writte protected. (Lock sign closed)

************************

Deleting a partition using the fdisk:

1.Place the Win.98 start-up disk in the computer and reboot.
2.Boot the computer with CD-ROM support press option (1)
3.When CD-Rom is installed, you'll get command A:\>
4.A:\> Now Type; fdisk It will look like this; A:\>fdisk
5.In FDISK Options window choose option 3 (Delete partition or logical DOS Drive)

Deleting a partition using the fdisk will remove all information from the hard disk. Normally this is done when you needed to remove possible virus or other operating systems loaded on sectors that cannot be removed using format utility. To do this from the fdisk menu choose option 3:

3 - Delete partition or logical DOS Drive and than back in FDISK Options window select option 1
1 - Create DOS Partition or logical DOS Drive.
Enter Volume label (name for your machine), if no Volume label is specified or you don't wish to name your machine, just press enter.

(Creating a primary DOS partition, you'll have to specify how big primary partition will have to be (size in Mb or percent of disk). For example if you want to make free drive, than specify the full amount of available disk space for each drive. But I don't think you'd like to do that right now so just leave the computer to create full partition for drive C..)

***********************

1.Place the Win.98 start-up disk in the computer and reboot (restart) to get to the DOS prompt.

2.You'll need to boot the computer with CD-ROM support so press option (1) to boot from the CD-ROM.

3.At this point, DOS will install needed drivers for CD-Rom.

4.Restart your computer, and at the MS-DOS prompt type; format c: /s

5.The computer will ask you "Are you sure you want to erase everything on drive c:" press "Y" for yes and press enter.

6.After all this is done, the computer will begin the formatting process.

*****************

Once the format process is completed successfully, eject startup disk, and insert Windows 95 CD into your CD-ROM drive and restart again. From here evrything goes pretty much automatic.. Windows installation will start and you'll have to choose type of install. Read the options, and select one you want. Have your Windows serial number handy cause you'll need it to continue the install procedure.
Also important is the fact that you should make sure to have a virus and rest of malware scanners reddy on CD and install them BEFORE YOU CONNECT TO INTERNET!!!

If you are formating with Fdisk the volume the name of the drive .Presumed C: .
In the list of drive in Fdisk type the name of the volume. If it does not have a name you may be instructed to type "NO NAME". Hope this helped.
